A healthy start for every tree
Give young trees the best start with targeted and efficient watering
Summer is coming to an end and the rest period (November to March) is just around the corner. This is the perfect time to plant new trees. However, in practice, looking after young trees often proves to be a challenge. After transplanting, trees experience transplant shock, during which the root system temporarily functions less effectively. It is precisely during this initial phase that proper aftercare is essential: without the right watering and soil conditions, a young tree cannot develop properly.
Why watering and moisture are so important
After planting, a tree does not yet have an extensive root system and is entirely dependent on its immediate surroundings. Adequate and targeted watering therefore plays crucial role. Water not only supports the recovery of the roots system, but also ensures that nutrients are absorbed more effectively and that the tree experiences less stress. If the soil around the tree dries out, this can seriously hinder growth and even lead to tree dying.
As well as watering, it i just as important that moisture is retained in the soil. Watering briefly and shallowly often has little effect: the water evaporates quickly or runs away from the root zone. For healthy development, the soil around the tree needs to remain slightly moist for a longer period. This encourages the roots to grow deeper and make the tress less dependent on frequent watering.
Making the right choice prevents problems
To provide young trees with optimal support, it is important to apply water in a targeted manner and retain it in the root zone. Depending on the situation and applicatio, various solutions can be used.
The RootBarrier™ Tree Watering Reservoir is an effective solution for retaining water around the tree. By creating a raised rim around the trunk, it prevents water from running off. This makes the watering ring particularly suitabe in situations where water drains away quickly or struggles to remain in the right place.
The Rootbarrier™ Waterbag, on the other hand, is the ideal solution when a gradual and sustained water supply is required. This solution releases water slowly over several hours, allowing it to penetrate deep into the soil. This helps to minimise evaporation and ensures that the tree has acccess to moisture for longer period, without the need for continuous manual watering.
By choosing the right solution based on the circumstances, watering can be organised more efficiently and the chances of succesful planting are significanlty increased.
