RootBarrier™ Biocovers
A 100% bio-based weed barrier made from 96% biofibre and 4% hemp. Both the fibres and the fabric are produced in Europe. The biofibre is 100% plant-based starch. It provides effective weed control whilst maintaining water and air permeability, which promotes soil health and plant growth.
The fabric is compostable and holds OK Compost Industrial certification; to this end, four tests were carried out: disintegration, biodegradation, ecotoxicity and heavy metals.

UV stability: like many bio-based products, Biocovers is highly UV-stable, without the need for UV stabilisers or other additives; however, unlike oil-based polymers, its biodegradation is not caused by UV light from the sun, but by the combined action of micro-organisms, temperature and moisture.

Biodegradable & compostable: the product breaks down without leaving any harmful residues, making it environmentally friendly.

Application: ideal for green projects involving perennial groundcovers or shrubs. The right choice of plants will eventually block out the light, preventing most weeds from taking root.
